Foulger Wins DIRTcar Late Model Feature At Antioch Speedway

Troy Foulger won his second 20 lap DIRTcar Late Model Main Event of the season Saturday night at Antioch Speedway.  He was coming off of a big $2500 victory in the Summer Nationals IMCA Modified feature two weeks ago aboard the Bill Bowers owned Modified.  Foulger jumped behind the wheel of the Bowers Racing Late Model and looked impressive once again.

Foulger slipped into second behind Paul Guglielmoni on a Lap 4 restart and waited for the right time.  As the lead five cars ran nose to tail, Foulger got the bite he needed on the outside in Turn 4 of the tenth lap, and he raced past Guglielmoni for the lead.  Point leader Jeff Decker followed quickly into second, but he could only chase the flying Foulger across the finish line for a second place finish.  Richard Papenhausen won a spirited duel with Chester Kniss on the final lap to finish third.

Jake Haulot captured his second 15 lap Winged 360 Sprint Car Main Event of the season.  Chris Magoon led for three laps before pitting during a caution period. This put Dan Gonderman in the lead, and Gonderman led until getting sideways in Turn 4 on lap 8.  Haulot gained the lead from there and led the rest of the way to win ahead of Gonderman and Magoon.

Fred Ryland won his sixth 20 lap IMCA Sport Mod Main Event, but it didn’t come easy as he spun early in the race without a yellow flag.  Mark Garner led the first eight laps ahead of Trevor Clymens, but contact saw Garner get into the wall in Turn 3  Clymens led the restart, and Ryland steadily worked his way through the Top 5 until gaining second on Lap 14.  Ryland pressured Clymens hard until making an inside pass on the back stretch on the 19th lap to gain the lead.  Ryland went on to a crowd pleasing victory with Clymens settling for second ahead of Anthony Giuliani.

Chase Templeton made his season debut and ended up winning the 20 lap Hobby Stock Main Event.  He led all 20 laps, but he had to work for it. Templeton had a front row start and set the pace immediately with track point leader Kimo Oreta shadowing his every move.  On lap ten, Oreta spun in Turn 2 and fell back to 5th.  A series of yellow flags made things interesting with Chris Sorensen taking up pursuit in second.  Templeton got sideways exiting Turn 4 to take the white flag with Sorsensen, Oreta and Robert Niven right behind him.  They finished in that order with Templeton collecting the victory.

Racing resumes next Saturday night at Antioch Speedway with a four division show that will include IMCA Modifieds, Wingless Spec Sprints, Limited Late Models and Hobby Stocks.
