Paul Stone Returns For Victory At Merced Speedway

Paul Stone impressed with his second IMCA Modified victory of the season Sunday night at Merced Speedway. This was Stone’s first Merecd start in his new car, and he steadily worked his way up from the fourth row.   The first ten laps featured a another battle between Kyle Wilson and his point leading brother Alex Wilson.  It was Alex leading on lap ten, but Stone made an inside pass in Turn 2 a lap later to take the lead.  Stone was never threatened from there as he won ahead of A. Wilson and Jimmy Reeves.

Ryan Hart made a late pass on a restart to take the victory in the 20 lap Hobby Stock Main Event.  Andrew Krumm set the early pace.  Hart moved into second early on and provided Krumm with pressure until 17th starter Shane Hausmann grabbed second on lap 12.  Unfortunately, Hausmann’s motor gave up late in the race while he was trying to make a move for the lead.  It was on the lap 17 restart when Hart made his winning pass on Krumm.  Krumm settled for second with Cody Parker finishing third.

Fred Ryland won the time limit shortened 16 lap Sport Modified Main Event.  Jared Tickel led the race for three laps before Chris Falkenberg passed him on a lap four restart.  Falkenberg held the lead until Ryland made an outside pass on the front stretch to gain the lead on lap ten. The race had one red flag and five yellow flags.  The lap 16 yellow flag ended the race with Ryland grabbing his seventh win ahead of Falkenberg and 16th starter Kelly Wilkinson.

Chris Corder wrapped up the season with his fourth 20 lap Mini Stock Main Event victory.  Corder took the lead from Steve Johnson on lap four and built up a straightaway advantage at the checkered flag.  Darren Miguel wrapped up a championship season with a second place finish, but he had to hold off a race long challenge from third place finisher Jason Womack.

Marcus Lung led all 12 laps of the Main Event and won the heat race for the Valley Sportsman division.  Eric Seely finished second ahead of Jeff Bristow.

Mike Drake led all 12 laps of the Dwarf Car Main Event and won the heat race to wrap up the Dwarf Car championship.  Chuck Weir finished second ahead of Buddy Kniss.

Merced Speedway wraps up the 2015 point season on Sunday night with the Delta Valley Classic.  IMCA Modifieds headline the show along with IMCA Sport Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Limited Late Models and Dwarf Cars
